Pusillanimous. What a fabulous word. As soon as I heard it—and all the more so in this lovely, alliterative, condescending context—I was a little bit in love. There are a plethora of pleasing potential partner pronouncements as well: putrid, pitiful, pungent, puny, pathetic, pet cetera. Mix and match and enjoy!
Pusillanimous (adjective)
1. showing a lack of courage or determination; timid.
Pusillanimous parasites!
The fantastically phenomenal phrase is uttered by the whiskered lips of the aged Aughra in season one, episode nine of the show The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which I very much enjoyed watching the entirety of last week.
I’d never seen, let alone heard of, the original Dark Crystal film by the famed puppeteer Jim Henson, but after finishing this season (a prequel of sorts anyway) I watched some of the original film (also on Netlfix), and it, too, is quite impressive, if not a little slower paced and somewhat less brilliant. There is also a behind the scenes movie (yep, Netflix) that is fascinating and half-watched by myself as well.
I recommend Age of Resistance (no need to watch the original if you don’t want to) to anyone who enjoys some classic fantastical tropes and incredible creativity on display. Pusillanimous parasites!
